Welcome to the Worship Weekly for the week starting Sunday 9 August 2026.
I have had some (welcome) positive feedback about the new look of the Worship Weekly, so I will be continuing with the format (again, thank you Mike Landy for the picture of the Church).
You may also have noticed that our Church’s full name, The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has assumed greater prominence in the WW over the last few weeks. Mary is our Church in Lympstone’s patron Saint and this year is the first time that we have celebrated the patronal festival, Mary’s birthday, in a long time. The patronal festival will take place on Saturday 5 September. Please see below for more information about how you can take part and help and who to contact.
The Lympstone Furry Dance has come and gone. It was great fun as always and is one of the highlights of the Year in Lympstone. Thank you to all who took part and also those who made it happen.
Upcoming Sunday Services
On Sunday 9 August at 08.00 Demelza Henderson will lead the Morning Prayer Service, using the usual Common Worship Morning Prayer booklet.
At 09.30 Revd. Canon Ian Pusey will lead the Holy Communion service.
On Sunday 16 August at 08.00 Revd. Heidi Budden will lead the Holy Communion Service.
At 09.30 Revd. Heidi will then lead the Journey Service, on the subject of ‘A Sacramental Community’, based upon Psalm 34.

Patronal Festival
Get Involved in delivering the Patronal Festival! “Love Your Church” is an event on September 5 2026 that is part Church Fete and part Birthday Celebration for the patron Saint of our Church in Lympstone, Mary. Like most events, this can only happen with the kind help of willing volunteers donating time, items, goods or expertise. Please consider helping out; the most pressing roles are:
Cakes and Scones We are still looking for donations of cakes or scones to sell on the day, there is a sign up sheet at the back of Church or you can contact Judy Landy at Judymlandy@gmail.com
Gazebos If anyone has a gazebo they are willing to lend us for the day that would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Andrew at AdminLymCh@excc.church
General Help Stewarding or on Stalls If anyone would be willing to volunteer either as a steward, serving refreshments or on one of our stalls even for just an hour on the day, please do get in contact with Revd. Heidi Budden at curate2@excc.church.
Produce Stall
Do come along to The Produce Stall ‘Under the Bridge’ which takes place every Saturday. If you can harvest, make or bake produce for the stall, please bring along from 09.00 on Saturday morning ready for the stall opening at 09.30!
Lympstone Church Flower Arrangers
We'd love to welcome some new faces to help decorate our Church in Lympstone throughout the year. You don't need any experience at all or be a churchgoer—just enthusiasm and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether you can help regularly or just from time to time, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Our next get-together is Wednesday 19th August at 6:30pm in church. Why not come along and meet the team? We'd love to see you there!
Channel Swim
You may have seen on BBC Spotlight this week one of our congregants, Nik Haynes [ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgxerj10v5o ]. Nik and three friends are undertaking a relay swim across the English Channel, raising funds for Hospicecare, a cause close to their hearts. Each one of the four will swim a different stroke, breast-stroke, crawl, butterfly and Nik swimming backstroke. Wedding Dress Festival - Holy Trinity Church August Bank Holiday Weekend 28 - 31 August
To raise funds for the Organ Restoration and Holy Trinity Flower Guild.
This is promising to be a huge event with over 40 dresses promised. The Flower Guild will also be displaying wedding flowers and the whole festival will be wedding themed. There will be an organ recital of wedding music on the evening of Saturday 31 August, including cheese and wine. This will be a ticket only event and tickets will be on sale shortly at a cost of £10 each.
Youth and Family Worker - Thank You, Nick
Holy Trinity’s excellent Youth Worker, Nick White, is leaving for pastures new at the end of August. Nick will be missed and sent this message to all the members of Exmouth Coastal Churches Mission: "I wanted to let you all know that, sadly, I will soon be leaving the Exmouth Coastal Churches team to enable Claire and I to take on some new challenges and to begin a new adventure together in Exeter. Next year Claire will be starting her curacy, which is likely to be in Exeter. As a family, that means a move to Exeter for all of us. In light of that impending move, I have recently accepted a job working in an alternative educational provision in the city working with young people who cannot access mainstream school. This new role will allow me to spend more time with my family and to be more of a support to Claire during her curacy. Over the next couple of weeks Steve and I will be sharing the transition plans for Lighthouse NextGen, Hygge Church, and LittlehamFootball4All. My last Sunday will be the 30th August at Littleham. I have very much enjoyed and been blessed by seeing God at work in and through the amazing Exmouth Coastal Churches ministry team. God bless you in the future".

First Aiders and First Aid Training
There are still 4 places available at the First Aid training courses on Saturday 17 October. Please let me (Andrew, Assistant Parish Administrator) know if you’re interested in training as a First Aider, or if you are already qualified as one. There is now no charge for this course if you are a congregation member. adminlymch@excc.church
Requests for Prayers
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church. Alternatively, those who don’t want to email can post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
