Week of 21 June 2026
Welcome to the week's Worship Weekly
Welcome to the Worship Weekly for the week starting Sunday 21 June 2026.
First, some VERY good news from our own Demelza Henderson about her epic Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle:
‘We covered the 1180-mile route in 23 days, climbing the equivalent of twice the height of Mount Everest as we went, and visiting 20 different retreat houses and leaders along the way. It really was one of the most amazing and memorable things I've ever done - I loved every minute!
We have well exceeded our target of raising £5000 for the Association for Promoting Retreats - although money is still coming in - and we would love to reach £7000, if anyone else would like to sponsor us! You can read a fuller account of our adventures, listing some of the highlights and lowlights, on promotingretreats.org/cycling-reflection, where there is also a link for donations.’
Congratulations to Demelza and Ben Simpson (Vanessa and Pete’s son and support rider extraordinaire!) on smashing your targets! I attach Demelza’s account and photographs of the adventure. A few printed copies will also be at the rear of the Church near the hand-written diar
Upcoming Sunday Services
On Sunday 21 June at 08.00 Rev’d Canon John Philpott will lead the Holy Communion Service.
At 09.30 Abigal Webber will lead and Marcus Paul will preach at the Journey Service, the subject of the Service being ‘A Healing Community’. I also understand that the Service might include the distribution of some treats…I can say no more!

At 09.30 Rev’ds Steve Jones and Heidi Budden will lead a JOINT MISSION COMMUNITY service at our Church in Lympstone. This will also be a celebration of Heidi’s priesting the day before at Exeter Cathedral.

Wild About Lympstone Wildlife Wellbeing Roll & Stroll – Saturday 27 June, 10.30 @ Lympstone Front Meadow and Church
A gentle 60-90-minute stroll …. open to all, but it is particularly suitable for those with limited mobility (wheelchairs, strollers, frames etc). The event is about people coming together to enjoy connection with others and nature. There will be wildlife talks and spotting, and an opportunity to help build our first ever Lymsptone bug hotel! Email WAL to book a place @ wildaboutlympstone@gmail.com
Visiting Bell-Ringers from 09.30 on Saturday 27 June
The Guild of Devonshire Ringers are holding their AGM. in the Aylesbeare Deanery on Sat. 27th. June. In connection with this they are hoping to have Bells Ringing in all the local towers from 9:30pm. onwards. In Lympstone, they will be ringing either a Peal (3 hours) or a ¼ Peal (45 minutes).
As far as anyone knows a full Peal has never been rung at Lympstone, so history may be made!
Celebratory Joint Mission Community Service @ Lympstone – Sunday 28 June, 09.30
This Joint Mission Community Service at Lympstone, led by Heidi Budden and Steve Jones will also celebrate Heidi’s Ordination at Exeter Cathedral, which will have taken place the day before. Do come along and celebrate with Heidi!
Requests for Prayers to be said – A message from Chris Kleinstuber
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church. Alternatively, those who don’t want to email can post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
