Welcome to the Worship Weekly for the week starting Sunday 2 August 2026.
I hope that you enjoy the slightly updated format of the WW with the tremendous new picture of our Lympstone Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary…many thanks to Mike Landy for sending that to me.
Upcoming Sunday Services
On Sunday 2 August at 08.00 Gillian Hoskins will lead the Morning Prayer Service, using the Common Worship Morning Prayer booklet. This is the first Sunday in the month, so that means…Hoskins’ Hospitality after the services with coffee and biscuits at the back of the Church.
At 09.30 Revd. Steve Jones will lead the Journey Service on the subject of ‘An Outward-Looking Community’.
On Sunday 9 August at 08.00 Demelza Henderson will lead the Morning Prayer Service, the usual Common Worship Morning Prayer booklet.
At 09.30 Revd. Canon Ian Pusey will lead the Holy Communion service.
News and Events
The Lympstone Furry Dance takes place this Saturday 1 August from the Village Centre to the Green opposite the Church (‘Front Meadow’) and then back again. At Front Meadow there will be a concert by local bands of songs old and new. It is a lot of fun and occasional mayhem (!) and a very old tradition commemorating the safe return of Lympstone Seafaring fishermen traders safely returning to Lympstone having traded their north Atlantic catches for furs in North America.

The Produce Stall ‘Under the Bridge’ continues every Saturday. If you can harvest, make or bake produce for the stall, please bring along from 09.00 on Saturday morning ready for the stall opening at 09.30. A couple of weeks back, the Bell Ringers manned the stall and (according to the records scion) earned the biggest one-day total ever…£186! Well done to donors, sellers and purchasers alike!
Mens’ Breakfast @ Toby Carvery, opp. CTCRM
The next Mens’ Breakfast will be on Saturday 8 August at 08.15. Richard Turner will talk on “The Royal Marines – to be or not to be” …an intriguing subject!
Lympstone Church Flower Arrangers
Do you enjoy flowers, greenery, or simply being part of a friendly team? We'd love to welcome some new faces to help decorate our Church in Lympstone throughout the year.
You don't need any experience at all or be a churchgoer—just enthusiasm and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether you can help regularly or just from time to time, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Our next get-together is Wednesday 19th August at 6:30pm in church. Why not come along and meet the team? We'd love to see you there!
Wedding Dress Festival - Holy Trinity Church August Bank Holiday Weekend 28 - 31 August
To raise funds for the Organ Restoration and Holy Trinity Flower Guild.
This is promising to be a huge event with over 40 dresses promised. The Flower Guild will also be displaying wedding flowers and the whole festival will be wedding themed. There will be an organ recital of wedding music on the evening of Saturday 31 August, including cheese and wine. This will be a ticket only event and tickets will be on sale shortly at a cost of £10 each.
First Aiders and First Aid Training
There are still 4 places available at the First Aid training courses on Saturday 17 October. Please let me (Andrew, Assistant Parish Administrator) know if you’re interested in training as a First Aider, or if you are already qualified as one. There is now no charge for this course if you are a congregation member. adminlymch@excc.church
War Memorial Cleaning and Repair
In the next two months or so the War Memorial will be cleaned and the lettering repaired in time for the Remembrance Day service in November. The Parish Council have kindly sourced funds for this from Devon County Council (Jeff Traill), so thanks are extended to LPC and DCC for their help.
Requests for Prayers
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church. Alternatively, those who don’t want to email can post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
