Welcome to the Worship Weekly for the week starting Sunday 16 August 2026.
The day after the solar eclipse…we’ll all still here. If the event felt a bit underwhelming, you’ve only got to wait until 23 September 2090 for the next full solar eclipse in Britain. If you’re really eager, there’s a partial solar eclipse on 2 August 2027, but as it’s only 30%-45%, you’ll need your colander/welding mask/pinhole camera again.
We’ve just left the Dog Days of summer, which traditionally marked the end of the hottest, most humid part of the summer, ending on 11 August. But traditions are changing and the heat is still intense, so if you have or see any incapacitated, infirm or elderly person struggling…stop, chat, offer help…or just knock on their door to check that they’re OK.
On Monday 17 August, Orchard Memorials will be cleaning and renovating the War Memorial at the Church. This is likley to take a couple of days.
Upcoming Sunday Services
On Sunday 16 August at 08.00 Revd. Heidi Budden will lead the Holy Communion Service.
At 09.30 Revd. Heidi will then lead the Journey Service. This is a special journey service this week; Teaching Communion for Journey rather than the topic previously published. It will be fun, spiritual and informative with Heidi!
On Sunday 23 August at 08.00 Basil Strickland will lead the Morning Prayer Service, using the usual Common Worship Morning Prayer booklet.
At 09.30 Revd. Steve Jones will lead the Holy Communion service.

Lympstone Church Flower Arrangers
We'd love to welcome new faces to help decorate our Church in Lympstone throughout the year. You don't need any experience at all or be a churchgoer—just enthusiasm and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether you can help regularly or just from time to time, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Our next get-together is Wednesday 19th August at 6:30pm in church. Why not come along and meet the team? We'd love to see you there!
Patronal Festival
Get Involved in delivering the Patronal Festival! “Love Your Church” is an event on September 5 2026 that is part Church Fete and part Birthday Celebration for the patron Saint of our Church in Lympstone, Mary. Like most events, this can only happen with the kind help of willing volunteers donating time, items, goods or expertise. Please consider helping out; the most pressing roles are:
Cakes and Scones We are still looking for donations of cakes or scones to sell on the day, there is a sign up sheet at the back of Church or you can contact Judy Landy at Judymlandy@gmail.com
Gazebos If anyone has a gazebo they are willing to lend us for the day that would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Andrew at AdminLymCh@excc.church
General Help Stewarding or on Stalls If anyone would be willing to volunteer either as a steward, serving refreshments or on one of our stalls even for just an hour on the day, please do get in contact with Revd. Heidi Budden at curate2@excc.church.
Fundraising Organ Recital of Wedding Music for Holy Trinity Organ Maintenance
Saturday 29 th August - Organ Recital of Wedding Music at Holy Trinity Church.
Tickets cost £10 each and are available from Holy Trinity Office or Coffee Bar.
Cheese & Wine from 6.30,
Recital at 7.30 pm
Produce Stall
Do come along to The Produce Stall ‘Under the Bridge’ which takes place every Saturday. If you can harvest, make or bake produce for the stall, please bring along from 09.00 on Saturday morning ready for the stall opening at 09.30!
Wedding Dress Festival - Holy Trinity Church August Bank Holiday Weekend 28 - 31 August
To raise funds for the Organ Restoration and Holy Trinity Flower Guild.
This is promising to be a huge event with over 40 dresses promised. The Flower Guild will also be displaying wedding flowers and the whole festival will be wedding themed. There will be an organ recital of wedding music on the evening of Saturday 31 August, including cheese and wine. This will be a ticket only event and tickets will be on sale shortly at a cost of £10 each.
First Aiders and First Aid Training
There are still 4 places available at the First Aid training courses on Saturday 17 October. Please let me (Andrew, Assistant Parish Administrator) know if you’re interested in training as a First Aider, or if you are already qualified as one. There is now no charge for this course if you are a congregation member. adminlymch@excc.church
Requests for Prayers
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church. Alternatively, those who don’t want to email can post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
