Week Commencing 31 August 2025
Welcome to the week's Weekly Worship. Come & Experience!
Welcome to this week’s Worship Weekly. I’m writing this from the Church Office at Holy Trinity while I wait for my car to be MOT’d and I am being treated to the most unusual sound and smell…RAIN…lots of it and falling on parched ground…soon the grass will start to green up again and thirsty, wilting plants will be refreshed and water butts will be filled again…and farmers will be relieved.
Speaking of which, although it is yet 6 weeks off, the Harvest service will take place on Sunday 5 October followed by a harvest lunch in the Church…a date for your diary.
‘All are welcome to Attend,
But to really Belong
Consider how you can Contribute’.
If you are ready, willing and able to help in any small way, please contact Andrew on admin@lympstonechurch.org and let him know what you can offer!
Upcoming Sunday Services
This Sunday at 8.00 a.m., Rev'd Shaun Tipton will lead Holy Communion.
There is no 9.30 a.m. service in Lympstone; there is a 10.00 a.m. Joint Mission Community Service at Holy Trinity, Exmouth.
On Sunday 7 September at 8.00 a.m., Demelza Henderson will be leading the Morning Prayer service.
At 9.30 a.m., Elaine Paul will be leading the Journey Service on the theme ‘Peter does miracles in Jesus’ name’.
The Nicene Creed’s 1,700th Birthday
The Nicene Creed, also known as the Creed of Constantinople, is one of the central professions of faith in our Church and forms part of our services.
It was first adopted in 325, 1,700 years ago this year.
To celebrate this memorable event, Peter Watsham and Richard Scott will be leading a series of get togethers in the Church between 7.30 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. over five Wednesday evenings starting on Wednesday 8 October.
Richard and Peter will explore The Creed, endeavouring to discover why it isn’t just a collection of words, but a series of statements written to inspire, reassure and encourage us.
The sessions are completely free, open to all (irrespective of whether you attend church or not) and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you want.
Come and hear, come and share, come and enjoy!
Sunday 6 to Saturday 14 September - National Week of Prayer
A reminder that as part of National Prayer Week there is the opportunity for Christians in the Exmouth area to come together as the body of Christ, for an evening of praise and prayer on September 6 at Holy Trinity at 7pm.
Don’t forget Lympstone’s own Community Prayer Hour in the Church from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. every Thursday, led by Chris Kleinstuber, and the Quiet Prayer service from 11.30 a.m. to midday every first, second and fourth Wednesday of the month, led by Demelza Henderson.
Sunday 14 September – 3.00 p.m. River Exe Stuart Line Cruise & Cream Tea
There are still places available for Rev’d Benedict and Rev’d Steve’s on an afternoon cruise up the River Exe with Stuart Line Cruises.
The cost of the trip, including the cream tea, is £20 per person. Please let the office know if you would like to book your place on the cruise. Payment can be made in cash, card or cheque made out to PCC Littleham Exmouth. They look forward to seeing you there!
Living & Telling Course
Places are still available on the Living and Telling Course on Saturdays 13, 20 and 27 September, led by Steve Jones; the course aims to equip ordinary Christians with simple tools to help them share their faith more easily.
The Courses take place from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on 13 and 20 September at Clyst St George Parish Hall and between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on 27 September at Holy Trinity Church, Exmouth.
There is a nominal charge of £10.00 which covers all course materials.
Wednesday 24 September - Quiet Morning in Lympstone Church
As part of National Retreat Week, Demelza Henderson is leading a quiet morning of worship, reflections and music, with plenty of time for your own silent prayers.
The quiet morning takes places between 10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. and you can drop in when you want. I can confirm that this is an affirming event that gives you the ‘space’ to sit, think and consider…well worth it for re-setting one’s own clock, physically and spiritually!
