News
Nativity Figures (inc. Sheep!) for Lympstone – can you help?
It’s not long now until the Three Wise Men travel towards the church from one end of the village and Mary, Joseph and the donkey from the other end! That’s right, the Lympstone life-size nativity figures will be coming out soon for their annual pilgrimage to Lympstone Church.
They’ll meet the shepherds and their sheep in the churchyard and this is where YOU can help!
Can you construct a sheep, shepherd or other animal for the Lympstone Nativity Scene?? If you feel the creative urge (!) to build a shepherd, sheep (to add to Shaun, Bella, Dolly and Larry the lamb) or other Nativity animal, do get in touch with Louise Pearson, our Nativity Wrangler extraordinaire at loupearson05@gmail.com or Andrew at adminLymCh@excc.church .
Communion Service Music – October to December
Our excellent new organist, Matthew Wright, has kindly sent me the schedule for music and hymns for the period of 09.30 Holy Communion services from October to December. I will be putting this on the noticeboard inside the Church.
Important message on Safeguarding for children’s events and groups
In order to fulfil our safeguarding responsibilities regarding our children’s events and groups, such as Tick Tock (Friday morning 09.00 – 11.00) and Kingdom Club (Tuesday afternoon 15.00 – 17.30), we are required to close the church to adults who are not involved in those activities, either as volunteers on those teams or attending with a child. As such, a notice will be placed on the door.
This means that the whole church is unavailable for use for other activities or meetings during this time - whether that is a church meeting attended by church members or an outside group.
Confirmation by Bishop Moira, Crediton, and Confirmation Classes
HAVE YOU BEEN CONFIRMED?
Bishop Moira will lead our next Confirmation Service at Holy Trinity on Wednesday 27 January 2027. Rev’d Steve Jones is holding a 4-week Confirmation Course at Holy Trinity, starting on Monday 26 October. If you would like to find out more about Baptism or Confirmation, please contact Andrew (AdminLymCh@excc.church) or Karen (office@excc.church) .

Light Party – Saturday 31 October, 16.00 @ Lympstone Church
A Light Party is a bright, family-friendly celebration held on or around October 31 as a positive alternative to Halloween. Instead of focusing on ghosts, monsters, or darkness, it centres on the Christian theme of Jesus as the "Light of the World".
Come along to the Church on Saturday 31 October and enjoy some family fun!
See the poster on the Worship Weekly or on Church Noticeboards for more information.
Coffee Morning – Tuesday 3 November 10.30 – 12.00 @ Home of Elaine and Marcus Paul

The Tearfund Big Quiz – Saturday 14 November, 19.30 @ Lympstone Church
Lympstone’s Tearfund Big Quiz Night enables us to support Tearfund’s work with more than 3.3 million of the world’s most marginalised people to help them move themselves out of poverty for good. We join tens of thousands of people who trust Tearfund to make the best possible use of their gifts.
Get together with friends to make a team of four to have fun answering questions over a wide range of topics while enjoying light refreshments with wine, beer and soft drinks and learning more about Tearfund’s work
There’s no charge to enter but through our generous donations we join churches across the country raising life changing funds.
Just contact Peter to sign up one or more teams of four or just as individuals to be joined with others on the evening.
See the poster on the Worship Weekly or on Church Noticeboards for more information.
Tearfund is a Christian charity working in close partnership with local churches and Christian organisations in more than 50 countries where conflict, climate disaster and injustice push millions of people into extreme poverty.
Quiet Morning for Advent - Watching, Waiting, Praying – Saturday 28 November 10.00 – 13.00 @ Lympstone Church
Advent is a season of Watching, Waiting and Praying as we prepare to celebrate Jesus’s birth at Christmas. It is a season to take stock of where we are in our walks through life, to look back at where wehave come from, and to look ahead to where God is calling us
Come and join a time of stillness and quiet reflection in church this Advent, with meditations, prayers and music on the hour, each hour.
The Quiet Morning is led by Demelza Henderson.
See the poster on the Worship Weekly or on Church Noticeboards for more information.
Requests for Prayers
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church, or post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
