Welcome to the Worship Weekly for the week starting 13 September 2026.
The weather stayed fine and what a fantastic day it was for the Love Your Church inaugural Patronal Festival in Church and on Church Meadow! Fun was had, music was enjoyed, raffles were won and Teddies were zip-wired! The event raised in excess of £1,300 for the Church and we can’t wait for LYC2 in 2027!
Upcoming Sunday Services
On Sunday 13 September at 08.00 Andrew Minter will lead the Morning Prayer service using the Common Worship Morning Prayer booklet.
At 09.30 Revd. Benedict Cambridge will lead the Holy Communion service. While Benedict will lead the service, the ever-excellent Stacey James will be preaching
On Sunday 20 September at 08.00 Revd. Shaun Tipton will lead the Holy Communion service.
At 09.30 Revd. Shaun Tipton will lead the Journey service. Banns for the upcoming wedding on 21 November 2026 will be read for the first time.
News and Events
Wednesday 23 September 2026, 10.00 to 12.30 – Quiet Morning for Retreat Week
For National Retreat Week (19-26 September), Demelza Henderson will be leading a Quiet Morning of prayer, reflection, meditation and calm from 10.00 to 12.30. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning and there is a suggested donation of £5.
I have been to the Quiet Morning before and it is tremendous ‘rebalancing’ time that leaves you refreshed physically and spiritually.
Congratulations to Revd Steve Jones!
Recently our Diocesan Bishop Mike Harrison invited our Rector, Steve Jones to become a Prebendary of Exeter Cathedral. In other dioceses, the office is known as Canon; however in a few dioceses, such as Exeter, the older term 'Prebendary' is used. The bishop has the ability to award the honorary office of Prebendary to up to 26 senior priests in the diocese for their sacrifice and service. The bishop has indicated that he was awarding the office to Steve for his faithful service and outstanding ministry. As this is an honorary office Steve will remain our Rector, however he will now have a seat in Exeter Cathedral, will have the opportunity to preach in the cathedral, and will process with the other canons of the cathedral during major services. Steve will also now wear a red cassock in ministry, rather than a black one. He will be installed as Prebendary at the Cathedral on Tuesday 6th October. Many congratulations to Rev'd Prebendary Steve!
Produce Stall
This Saturday is the last one this year for the Produce Stall ‘Under the Bridge’. If you can harvest, make or bake produce for the stall, please bring along from 09.00 on Saturday morning ready for the stall opening at 09.30!
Lympstone Church Buildings Officer (Volunteer Role)
Are you interested in old buildings?
We urgently need a volunteer to manage the maintenance of our beautiful church, which includes organizing various trades to service boiler, clear gutters, etc. There is no requirement to do any of the work yourself and we have a comprehensive list of contractors. There is sometimes a need to meet a contractor on site at a mutually convenient time. If you are in full time work this could be delegated.
Contractor’s invoices are directed to the Treasurer.
You do not need to be a regular worshipper – our church is for all!
The retiring holder of this post would be happy to mentor you initially.

Requests for Prayers
If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church. Alternatively, those who don’t want to email can post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box. In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.
If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY. Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary. If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
