11 October 2026

Welcome to the week's Worship Weekly

Dear Friends

Welcome to the Worship Weekly Lympstone newsletter for the week starting Sunday 11 October.

Harvest Weekend

If you were at the Church over the weekend, for the Sunday services or just as a visitor, you will have seen and smelt the wonderful floral displays prepared by the Flower Guild, both established and new members who have joined since Louise Pearson out the call for help a few weeks ago. You have ALL done a tremendous job and it is much appreciated by all those who come to Church. Thank you!

The donation from the Harvest Service on Sunday, both money and provender, were gifted to the Lympstone Community Hub, which provides meals and lunches to Lympstone residents. Thank you for your generosity in donating; it is, as always, appreciated. We received this kind thank you message from Linda Lyon of the Lympstone Hub:

Dear Heidi

On behalf of all the organisers and diners at the monthly Lympstone Community Lunches, may I thank you and your parishioners for your very generous Harvest Festival donations.

The lunch has recently moved from Churchill Court to the Village Hall, whose trustees have agreed to assist with the practical side of running it.  This has given us more room for our diners and much better and more modern kitchen facilities.  We also now have food storage and freezer space in the Hall which we have never had before, so all the food donated can be used for our lunches.

We usually meet on the last Sunday of the month at 1pm with dates being advertised in the Herald and on the Lympstone website.  The next one is on Sunday 25th October and we always welcome additional diners.

Many thanks

Linda Lyon

Rector’s News

You may have heard the news that Rev'd Heidi Budden will be slowly transitioning from our Mission Community during the remainder of this year to finish her curacy as Interim Chaplain at the University of Exeter. She will be full time at the university in January. This is a great opportunity for Heidi and a mark of confidence that the Bishop has in her for this important role

Rev'd Steve Jones

Whilst we will feel the loss of Heidi to the University particularly hard, we are also thrilled for her and this exciting and well-deserved opportunity! Thank you, Heidi, and very happy landings!

Important message on Safeguarding for children’s events and groups

In order to fulfil our safeguarding responsibilities regarding our children’s events and groups, such as Tick Tock (Friday morning 09.00 – 11.00) and Kingdom Club (Tuesday afternoon 15.00 – 17.30), we are required to close the church to adults who are not involved in those activities, either as volunteers on those teams or attending with a child.  As such, a notice will be placed on the door.

This means that the whole church is unavailable for use for other activities or meetings during this time - whether that is a church meeting attended by church members or an outside group.

Confirmation by Bishop Moira, Crediton, and Confirmation Classes

HAVE YOU BEEN CONFIRMED?

Bishop Moira will lead our next Confirmation Service at Holy Trinity on Wednesday 27 January 2027. Rev’d Steve Jones is holding a 4-week Confirmation Course at Holy Trinity, starting on Monday 26 October. If you would like to find out more about Baptism or Confirmation, please contact Andrew (AdminLymCh@excc.church) or Karen (office@excc.church)

Lympstone Church Buildings Officer (Volunteer Role)

We still need a Volunteer to take up the role of Church Buildings Officer to safeguard the fabric of the Church in Lympstone, including organizing various trades to service boiler, clear gutters, etc.

This is a Volunteer role. There is no requirement to do any of the work yourself. It is not an onerous position. Please contact our Administrator, Andrew, on adminLymCh@excc.church in the first instance

Requests for Prayers

If you would like prayers to be said during a Sunday service and/or at the Thursday Prayer Group for a friend or relative needing prayer, please send an email to PrayersLymCh@excc.church, or post a message in the Prayer Requests Box at the Church entrance using the supply of cards attached to the box.  In both instances, please include your name so that we can verify the request.

If you would prefer prayers to be said privately, rather than in the services, please request the prayers to be said at the Thursday Prayer Group ONLY.   Prayers said in this meeting are confidential and will be said every Thursday while the group feels it is still necessary.  If you have any questions or feel you would like to join the group, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Prayer Group each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
