Week Commencing 15 February 2026

Welcome to the week's Worship Weekly

Welcome to this week’s edition.

Despite the daily rain, the sun was briefly spotted recently; it does still exist and I'm sure it will be drying the land before we know it, turning our paddy-fields into fertile acres again!

Shrove Tuesday (17 February) and Ash Wednesday (18 February) happen next week and then we are into the season of Lent, a period of reflection, self-denial, and preparation for the celebration of Christ's resurrection. There are a number of events (Lent Course, Lent Lunches, Quiet Morning for Lent) taking place at Lympstone Church.

Do come and share, reflect and prepare.

Upcoming Sunday Services

This Sunday, at 08.00, Shaun Tipton will lead Holy Communion Service.

At 09.30 Shaun will also lead the Journey Service on the subject ‘Can God help me Forgive, even when it hurts?’

On Sunday 22 February at 08.00, Andrew Minter will lead the Morning Prayer Service.

At 09.30 John Philpott will lead Holy Communion Service.

News

Terri Scott Memorial Service

At 14.00 on Wednesday 18 February, there will a memorial service to remember our late friend, neighbour and parishioner, Terri Scott.

Lent Lunches – Volunteers Needed to help

As we approach Lent, can you help our dedicated volunteers, Wendy Reynolds, Sue Jones and Heather Stratford, with the Lent Lunches this year? If you can please sign up on the sheet at the back of church or contact one of the organisers.

Parochial Church Council (PCC) – Notes from the Churchwarden, Anne Billington

Please find attached an update from John and Anne Billington, Churchwardens, following the recent PCC meeting in Lympstone. It contains some very interesting information relating to the Church and Parish and is well worth a proper read.

At 19.00 on Wednesday 25 March, there is an open PCC meeting at the Church, Lympstone. All are invited to attend. There is much going on with the Mission Community at the moment and it should be an interesting meeting.

Dates

Mission Community Lent Course @ Lympstone Church 19.00-20.30 starting Wednesday 18th February

Richard Scott and Peter Watsham are leading the Lent Course for the wider Mission Community this Lent.

The course will take place over seven weeks starting on Thursday 19 February.

Please see the attached document for further information, or contact Richard or Peter via email:

Wednesday 4 March 10.00 to 13.00 @ Lympstone Church – A Quiet Morning for Lent

Led by Demelza Henderson, this morning of quiet prayer and reflection will be focused on the Seven Last Words of Jesus from the Cross. The morning will include worship, meditative readings and music, with plenty of time for your own silent prayers and/or creative prayer activities.

Sunday Service Prayers

If you would like prayers to be said for village residents during a Sunday service, please email PrayersLymCh@excc.church or fill out a card and put it in the ‘prayer requests box’ at the back of church. You must state at the top of the card that it is for reading out in Church and include your name so that the team can verify from where the request has come; the prayer group will treat the prayer requests in the box as confidential. If you have any questions, please speak to Chris Kleinstuber, who leads the Community Prayer hour each Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.
